Our Vision
The universal call to holiness leads us to recognize that the Body of Christ suffers when some members are not invited to full participation, therefore the National Apostolate for Inclusion Ministry (NAfIM) envisions that every person with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (IDD) will be welcome to full inclusion into our Catholic communities.
Our Mission
In order to answer the call of our Catholic Bishops to embrace all persons with disabilities, the National Apostolate for Inclusion Ministry (NAfIM) leads the Catholic community to the full inclusion of persons with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (IDD). We seek to:
- Enhance awareness and acceptance of their dignity and gifts.
- Establish community with persons with IDD and those who support them.
- Identify and promote opportunities that encourage people with IDD to share their gifts.
- Foster quality spiritual development for all persons with IDD.
- Identify and promulgate valuable information and resources.
- Encourage appropriate pastoral care for persons with IDD and those who support them.
- Support implementation at all levels.
There can be no separate Church for people with disabilities. We are one flock that serves a single shepherd. Paragraph 32, U.S. Catholic Bishops' Pastoral Letter on People with Disabilities, November 16, 1978
